Now It's Professor Tom Friedman

Tom Friedman offers us "Lessons From Sri Lanka". His theme:

"It's often forgotten that while suicide bombing started in the Middle East, the people who perfected suicide as a weapon of war were the Tamil Tigers militia here in Sri Lanka, the island-state off the southern tip of India. In the last decade, Tamil suicide bombers, many of them women, killed some 1,500 people, including an Indian prime minister and a Sri Lankan president."

Friedman then contrasts the situation in Sri Lanka, which has managed to maintain a cease-fire from last December, with the situation in Palestine. His message seems to be that if the experience in Sri Lanka offers a road map to peace, then both sides of the Israeli/Palestinian dispute are doing everything wrong. The column then stops, rather than ends - like this post.
