Ronald Dixon Aims For "Jury Nullification"

We have been following the travails of Ronald Dixon, the young Navy vet who shot a career criminal outside his toddler's bedroom, and now faces an illegal weapons possession charge.

In the latest wrinkle, the DA has offered to reduce the charge to attempted possession of a weapon. However, this is not a charge for which Dixon could demand a jury trial.

Dixon and his attorneys have rejected the reduced charge and are preparing for a jury trial, at which point, if there is justice in the world, the jury will laugh the DA out of court.

UPDATE: Well, the NY Times tells us that the defense can not successfully oppose a reduction in the charge. Evidently, the result will be a non-jury trial.
